Fraction operations

Common denominator for + and −. Just multiply across for ×.

Adding/subtracting fractions

Find a common denominator (smallest is the LCM of the two). Convert each fraction. Add/subtract numerators only — keep the denominator the same. Simplify at the end.

Multiplying fractions

(a/b) × (c/d) = (a·c) / (b·d). Cross-cancel before multiplying when possible to keep numbers small.

Dividing fractions

Keep, change, flip: keep the first fraction, change the ÷ to ×, flip the second. Then multiply normally.
